I painted this 2′ x 4′ acrylic painting of Darth Vader for a friend.
I made the MDF frame from pre-cut wood.
I built it out with some 1″ x 2″ pine.
The total cost was $12 dollars.
THAT is so much cheaper than a canvas that size.
This painting was inspired by a medium sized Buddha statue that my Mom gave me. I love Buddha. I took a photo of the statue and printed it out in black & white. Then I sketched the light and dark areas to clearly define them. Then I sketched it onto a 16″x20″ canvas and started painting him!
After completing Buddha I wanted to fill the extra area with something simple that would continue the same feeling as Buddha himself.
I love how this turned out!
